A few Olympic Firsts from the 2024 Paris Games

Each Olympic Games allows Olympians the opportunity to live out their dreams and make history for their country. The 2024 Paris Olympic Games didn’t shy away from this, and although it isn’t over we have witnessed quite a few firsts. We have included a list below of a few of the firsts that have been captured by Black and Brown athletes across the world. We celebrate these athletes and their accomplishments, and we can not wait to see what the rest of the Olympic and Paralympic Games will bring.
1st All-Black podium at the Olympics (For the floor routine, Jordan Chiles - Bronze, Simone Biles - Silver, Rebecca Andrade - Gold)
Brazil wins bronze as a team, first all-around team podium win.
Noah Lyles became the 1st American to win the 100m title in 20 years, winning Gold
Jasmine Moore became the first American woman to win a medal in the women’s triple jump. She came in third place, winning bronze.
Julien Alfred wins St. Lucia’s first-ever Olympic medal, coming in first place in the 100m to win Gold
Manu Bhaker became the first Indian female shooter, she won a bronze medal in the women's 10m air pistol event. Manu also won India's first team medal, a bronze as well.
Swapnil Kusale won India's first medal in the 50m rifle 3 positions event, a bronze, at the Olympic Games.
Carlos Yulo became the first Filipino Gold Medalist for Men's Artistic Gymnastics
Cindy Ngamba secures the 1st medal for the Refugee Olympic team
Thea LaFond won Gold and Dominica’s first Olympic medal in the women’s triple jump
