Be Of Service To Gaza On Day One Of The New Year

By: Alexis Shoats

The first day of the year typically brings a wave of New Year resolutions, emotions, and goals. Rarely do we think of other's situations and the larger world around us. We spend time focusing solely on our personal goals, happiness, and health for the new year. Let’s change that in 2025.

The genocide in Gaza has been happening since October 2023, and thousands of Palestinians are still suffering every day. We have compiled a list of trusted organizations you can donate to or get involved with to help bring aid to Palestinians across Gaza.

  1. Human Concern International

HCI is Canada’s first and oldest Muslim relief charity and has been operating in Gaza since 2000. Here are a few areas they focus on according to their website, “We have operations across different sectors, including monthly food aid, emergency response, WASH, health, and education. We work with reputable partners that have the capacity and ability to provide timely assistance to people in need.”

Visit their site to donate and for more information.

  1. Palestine Children’s Relief Fund

PCRF was founded in 1991 and is a volunteer-based nonprofit that provides medical relief to children in the Middle East. Their treatment abroad program has successfully evacuated over 120 children from Gaza to the United States, Middle East, and Europe for treatment.

  1. Middle East Children’s Alliance

MECA is a nonprofit organization that advocates for the well-being and rights of children in the Middle East. Over the years they have delivered over 31 million in food and medical aid for children in Palestine, Syria, Iraq, and Lebanon. They are currently on the ground in Gaza working to provide relief to families, hospitals, and clinics.

  1. Doctors Without Borders/ Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF)

The organization provides medical care to communities that have been affected by conflict, disasters, epidemics, and social exclusions. As a team of doctors, nurses, and other medical professionals, these are the principles that guide them according to their website. "We are independent, impartial, and neutral. We are guided by universal medical ethics. We are committed to bearing witness. We are transparent and accountable. We are committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion."
